Grant Oakley Brown
Grant is the 4 yr. old son of Stephen and Amanda Brown of Liberty, TN. He is a preschool student at DeKalb West School where he enjoys his classmates, teachers, and all of his friends. He attends Salem Baptist Church and is a member of Wednesday night Mission Friends.
Grant loves playing with his brother Austin (17) and sister Lydia (13). He enjoys playing ball, swinging, sliding, jumping, dancing, riding the four-wheeler with Dad, and everything else that he can get into. As an extremely active little boy, he does not want to miss out on anything and will even help Dad feed the chickens and check on the cows. When he can’t be outside his favorite inside toy is the iPad which he can operate better than most adults.
As a family, we have been beyond blessed by Grant. He continues to teach us so much about love, acceptance, and patience. He never meets a stranger and is constantly investigating his surroundings. We are also blessed by the people that have come into our lives because of Grant. We have met amazing people who have provided therapies as well as support for him and our family.
Yes, Down Syndrome brings extra challenges, but looking at that sweet face makes it all worth it. Down Syndrome has made us a closer family and better individuals. Down Syndrome has also made us realize what an amazing extended family, friends, church family, and community we have.
